Role Description
Are you an innovative, creative and highly skilled Lead QA Automation Engineer looking for a challenge in a market leading technology company? Or have you the experience and drive to aspire to that role?

We are looking for someone who possesses strong expertise in validating and improving enterprise software applications with a clear passion for the technologies involved. The ability to push modern technologies to their limits is a must. You will be responsible for the evaluation of scalable, high performance solutions used by leading international retailers. Great communication skills are essential to be able to take on requirements and work alongside the Architects, QA professionals, Product Owners and users to spear head simple, initiative solutions that will lead us to achieve full DevOps capability and deliver critical business efficiencies. You will be an advocate of automated and performance testing helping to enable high-performing teams to deliver positive experiences for our customers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Most importantly, you will evangelise the Volo vision with fellow employees and customers in a fun and creative environment. Key Responsibilities
  • To work across multiple agile teams inspiring, developing, leading and supporting other team members promoting quality.
  • To deliver expert level functional, non-functional and automation testing across Volo’s technical estate.
  • Work closely with QA colleagues, DevOps, and the Platform and Solution Architects to drive forward the Volo Technology Roadmap.
  • Prototype concepts and evaluate tools and technologies that will strategically drive Volo testing capabilities forward in supporting true DevOps.
  • Optimise the quality checks in existing components and help establish a new testing paradigm for our new portfolio of cutting edge components.
  • Solve delivery bottlenecks by using your drive and expertise in multiple agile teams.
  • Stay abreast of testing technological trends, standards and methodologies.
  • Proactively research, assess and help implement technology and industry trends, evaluating their possible value and applicability within our environment.
  • Continually improve and enforce quality best practice in all agile teams covering areas including but not limited to code quality, unit testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment and true DevOps.
  • Deliver evolving testware that contributes towards Volo’s Product and Technology roadmap.
  • Encourage a continuous improvement culture.
Key Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of mentoring and inspiring test automation engineers.
  • Experience in Automation Test Tools, for example Selenium, restAssured and Soap UI.
  • Excellent knowledge of the current and developing testing paradigms at the enterprise level.
  • Experience in Java RESTful APIs both server side and client side.
  • Experience and understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL Databases.
  • Experience in validating the performance and behaviour of high throughput, low latency applications.
  • Experience of unit and automated integration testing.
  • Experience of working with Continuous Integration (Maven, Jenkins and Bamboo)
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment.

Desirable:

  • Good understanding of eCommerce world such as Online market places, order processing, inventory management, stock control.
  • Experience of working with AWS (EC2, S3, API Gateway, Lambda).
  • Experience in DevOps environment.
  • Experience of working with NoSQL Databases, Microservices and API Integration layers.
  • Experience of working with Front End technologies (React, HTML5).
  • Experience in using dependency injection technologies (Spring, Guice and CDI).
  • Good understanding of version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
