Role Description

In your capacity as an experienced IT Engineer you will utilise the corporate support tools and deploy the resources necessary to get the job done. Support channels include a dedicated ticket system, e-mail, phone and Instant Messenger. You will be responsible for picking up issues from all parts of the organisation, providing email and phone based support alongside a small team and the Head of OMC. You will take a lead on complex internal problems, migration projects, documentation and be instrumental in steering the strategic direction for Volo's IT outsource support requirements. Some work out of standard UK hours may be required to cover on-call and the needs of our US office.

Key Deliverables
  • Reduce the backlog of support requests
  • Tactical support requirements
    • Review and 'fix' the internal structured and wireless network
    • Review the virtual environment (SAN and hosts) to identify and implement improvements
  • Cloud first - Move all internal services to the cloud
    • Antivirus
    • Sage finance package
    • IT Ticketing
    • Email signature tools
    • Wireless management
    • Active Directory into Azure
  • Lead the project to review all Volo IT business tools and implement the best solutions for our current needs
    • VoIP
    • CRM
    • Ticketing solutions
    • Collaboration tools and file storage / sharing
  • Knowledge transfer - help the existing team understand better our internal systems and have them fully documented.
  • Seek out, evaluate and implement relationships and support plans with third parties to improve our robustness and flexibility
  • Deliver a flexible service delivery model for US IT support (which may include outsourcing)
  • Support the relocation of our London office
Key Skills and Experience
  • Good interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Competent in the deployment, management and diagnosis of:
    • Microsoft cloud services (Office 365, Azure AD, Azure backup)
    • Microsoft desktop operating systems (Windows 10/8)
    • Microsoft Server operating systems and tools (WSUS, DNS, RADIUS, AD)
    • Wireless Access Points
    • SaaS IT services and business applications (eg Antivirus in the cloud)
    • Microsoft Hyper-V and SAN management
    • Networking technologies (monitoring tools, switch management, traffic shaping)
    • VoIP telephony and conferencing tools
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, adaptable, optimistic, flexible team player
  • Experience in migrating internal services to SaaS/Cloud solutions
  • Engaging with and getting the best from 3rd Party service providers
  • Willing and able to share knowledge, pass on good practice and technical skills to others in the team

  • Practical experience of working with a Help Desk logging and reporting tools
