Cybercheckout

Gridstop is an etailer that has shrunk its total SKUs, warehousing and staff, yet has managed growth of over 60% in the last 3 years. Gridstop runs two online businesses, Cybercheckout and Maxiproteinas. Cybercheckout is an online store based at its Leicester warehouse for equestrian, home and garden, and camping equipment. Cybercheckout sells both branded and own brand products on both Amazon UK and international sites, as well as eBay UK. Maxiproteinas sells sports nutrition products to the Spanish market, focusing on price and service. The brand name is also used to sell on eBay.es. Making the Switch

Andrew Redstone, Director of Gridstop: “When you get to a certain size, you have difficulty controlling your business. You need a central ecommerce system to bring it all together for you. “We started out with another provider but made the change to Volo. We weren’t looking for another provider at the time; we were so engrossed in the day-to-day aspects of running the business. We got a demo of the Volo system, and literally looked at each other and said, ‘We have to switch’. Our implementer was excellent. It was all very quick and painless.

“Volo is the best in our opinion. The massive advantage for us is the stock system with its multi warehouse and multi location options, along with order flagging, and overall ease of use for warehousing staff. It is the ideal stock system for a web-based company. I must also mention the stock and sales reporting function. We could not run our business without it.”

The Value of Consolidation

“We were selling a lot of items in the beginning. With Volo we were able to quickly see which were the best sellers and this enabled us to consolidate our items into the ones that sell really well. This makes things simpler and more focused for us. The integration into all channels is both simple and efficient, and the link into Sage means even the accountant is happy – not an easy feat! We used to run our warehouse and had our staff to do that. Now we manage everything through Volo and third parties, even with warehouses in Leicester and Madrid. We can run a very successful business with one full-time manager, one part-time customer services
representative, our accountant and
me. This frees me up to concentrate on business strategy, buying and marketing.

“We’re now in our 5th year and we’re on target to
do £2.25m. We’ve been able to add two-thirds to
our business with Volo. We can automate so
much now – the marketing, listing, stock, accounting, warehousing, the ability to create pick-lists and so on. It’s definitely two people saved from my wage bill.”

Efficiency is the Key

“You need efficiency in automation, otherwise you get over-run. In our business, we don’t take calls. All our customer service is done by email and this gives us an audit trail of everything, which really helps us improve the business as we go. Also, as I’ve mentioned, the warehousing system is excellent and the information I can get from the system is great.

“The sales support and the UK base work really well for responsiveness. Volo have good people, which is key for me. Also, having the technical and software skills in the UK means that they can get the job done quickly. Anything that live support cannot resolve is handed to a development team who are straight onto it. I would also add that the account management function is excellent with ours assessing our account and finding ways to increase our sales. This has been much appreciated.”
