London, UK, 10th December 2015: eCommerce specialist Volo Commerce (Volo) today announced two new c-level appointments. Emile Bloemen has joined the Volo executive team as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) while Simon Smith has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The appointments are key to Volo’s international expansion as it seeks to consolidate its global service to customers and increase its annual seller revenues across the Volo platform.

Volo secured $10m of funding in 2015 to cement its leadership position in the UK. It is set to significantly expand its presence in the US and beyond. Marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Google and Rakuten are the fastest growing sector in ecommerce, and a core strength for Volo, as larger merchants and retailers look to find new customer audiences and leverage their brands across multiple channels.

Formerly Global Vice President for Cloud for Commerce at Hybris, an SAP company, Bloemen joins Volo with responsibility for revenue growth. His focus as an executive will focus on supporting the Volo multi channel community, specifically helping the development of new channels and successfully exploiting opportunities in new markets.  He is also responsible for channel partner management as Volo continues to build its overseas business. Smith joined Adeptra at start-up phase and over 12 years successfully steered the business to $50m of recurring annual revenue with customers in over 20 countries. As a consultant COO he has also advised on the preparation and execution of a $40m MBO and has been an adviser to a number of technology start-ups through periods of fast change and strong growth.

Paul Watson, CEO at Volo said, “Consumer buying behaviour is changing so dynamically that our customers are responding by offering their products on as many channels as possible, both to provide a better buying experience and to maximise sales. They also know that multichannel consumers spend more on average and exhibit greater brand loyalty. The executive appointments of Emile and Simon are key to us putting the international framework in place to support our customers’ global goals. Simon has a proven ability in global expansion, particularly within the US, where we see the market opportunity to be around ten times that of the UK. Emile has a wealth of experience across ecommerce and multichannel businesses, as well as a clear grasp on the potential offered by cloud-based solutions.”

Commenting on his appointment, Emile Bloemen, Chief Revenue Officer, Volo Commerce said, “Our customers control their sales and operations across multiple channels, so it’s critical we help them open up new markets while also taking complexity out of their systems and processes. There is huge potential for our customers to deliver at home and internationally.”

Simon Smith, Chief Financial Officer, Volo Commerce added: “Today’s consumers are very mobile, love the safety and availability in online marketplaces, and have high expectations for the whole buying experience. It’s our job to help multi channel retailers optimise that experience regardless of channel, device or region, throughout their life with us.
