In partnership with leading ecommerce consultancy Genie and the Geek, and with support from online marketplace giant eBay, the concept looks set to add real value to any merchant looking to grow their business online.

What is Marketplace University? Marketplace University is a unique new way to learn all the skills and techniques that you need to be successful on ecommerce marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon and Play.com
Why have you joined with Volo and what are the benefits to merchants and retailers? In order to really prepare retailers for developing their marketplace business, we needed to offer true value. We could only do this by combining our knowledge of using eBay, and Volo’s extensive experience of managing ecommerce marketplace solutions for businesses. The courses are all- encompassing and will provide training and support which is both practical and usable. By offering three different modules, we make the content relevant to the current experience level of a retailer. This means we are able to avoid generic overviews and get down to the specifics of what you need to do to be successful on multichannel marketplaces.
What has the response been? We have seen excitement from prospective attendees and lots of support from marketplaces, couriers and other related service providers.
What is the reason you designed multiple courses? There is a demand for different levels of depth in the offered courses. These range from an Introduction to eBay to an advanced course on how to scale an existing eBay business.

When do the courses start? The first courses are due to start in June.

What audience are you catering with for the courses available now and in the future? The initial courses are introductory and aimed at people who are looking at trading online or on ecommerce marketplaces for the first time.
What challenges do merchants and retailers face in the marketplace and how is Marketplace University addressing this? The biggest challenge on marketplaces is knowledge and how to keep abreast of the constant changes in multichannel marketplaces. By holding these sessions you will be able to discuss challenges and learn the skills to adapt to new opportunities before the competition makes their move.
