The company is passionate about bringing the latest products to consumers at affordable prices, covering multiple verticals, including technology, fashion, home & garden, sport & leisure and health & beauty. We provide retailers, brands and wholesalers a cost effective, simple and efficient solution to sell online. This includes anything from simply selling on our eBay store, to a full ecommerce managed service – including listing optimisation and customer service – to retailers and household brand names. Retail Direct works closely with its partners to ensure they support their customers with the most up-to-date information. All relevant employees go through full Volo ‘Flight School’ training to advise their customers on all aspects of the Volo platform.

Converging opportunities

Zak Khan, Operations Director, Retail Direct: “We started Retail Direct in 2014, responding to a number of opportunities in the market. Some retailers were having challenges with some marketplaces and needed help to start selling online again. Others wanted to experiment with the marketplace channel, which was new to them, and seed their sales while learning about marketplaces in the process. We offered them an ideal way to avoid channel conflict and move some of their surplus stock.

“At the same time, eBay was scaling down its volume of managed accounts and a number of them ended up in that unmanaged space, which created an additional segment of customers looking for the support we could offer.”

Passing on the experience

“We’ve got a lot of experience of multichannel sales, and many of our staff have previously had their own ecommerce ventures. We’ve been through the pain of learning something new and we’ve got really good at it. Now we can offer that experience to others, combining our expertise and the Volo technology.

“We get the nuances of how to succeed in this business, having tripped up, picked ourselves up and learned the lessons. We save others from going down that journey and give them a much quicker path to success.”

Winning combination

“Our Account Managers have a direct interest in the success of each store, so we work closely with our customers to help them maximise their business using the Volo platform. We also take away all the hassle for our customers. We work with them on branding, listing templates, enhancements to listings, we share best practices, and we provide sales insight information for them too.

“Our approach is working. We have seen impressive year on year growth and, working in partnership with Volo, we have big plans for 2017.”
