When you always have accurate stock levels and stock information, you increase your efficiency. In our previous post, Volo helps companies reduce costs through streamlined inventory processes and reliable supplier feeds. In this post, Volo customers who have benefitted from a focus on inventory & stock control provide some commentary on why it’s important.

KMS Parts

Vehicle parts and accessories merchant KMS Parts uses the Volo platform to manage its inventory of over 1.4 million parts. It has seen ecommerce reshape how it does business and has created 13 new jobs. Felix Liu, eCommerce Manager, KMS Parts: “Volo has a very strong reputation in our sector. Before we came on board, we looked at our competition. This is because your natural approach is to see how other companies are tackling multi channel ecommerce. One of our biggest competitors already worked with Volo. We knew they knew our sector and the huge demands we would put on a system with the vast numbers of parts we stock.

“It’s almost impossible to estimate the benefits of Volo, but let me give you an example. I already told you that we had a guy manually listing items. He managed 600 items, it took him months, it generated £20,000 for us. Now the Volo ecommerce system handles 1.4 million items, which is over 2,000 times more than he managed! This growth has created 13 additional jobs, 7 in the office and 6 in the warehouse and dispatch. It’s pushing all the areas of our business and has created employment. Volo has fundamentally changed the business model of KMS.”

The Board Basement

Winter sports equipment, clothing and accessories merchant The Board Basement uses Volo’s software to manage its inventory and stock control and has gone from £250,000 to £1,000,000 in 3 years. Stuart Tait, co-founder an Director, The Board Basement: “The three big things for me about the system are efficiency, control and future-proofing. The system has made our business efficient. It’s also given us control with the way it manages stock across all the channels. Everyone’s changing the goalposts all the time, and the Volo system takes care of that. It helps us figure things out, and helps us with our competitive edge. We’re also part of a multichannel ecommerce business that’s future-proofing its own software. This means we don’t have to pay for what we want to do, it helps us future-proof our own business.”

Cheapest Electrical

Office consumables merchant Cheapest Electrical uses the Volo system to manage its inventory and stock control and estimates the system saves it between 3 and 4 staff a year. Paul Lever, Director, Cheapest Electrical: “Volo is big boys’ software which allows us to list our entire stock on various multi channel platforms and keep a close control.

“The main benefits are that you can quickly list new stock to all platforms, you can quickly add a new platform (we have Rakuten in our sights) and you can quickly revise listings as standards change, like for example raising all your photos from 1 megabyte size to 2 megabytes. You can do this instantly. There’s also the added benefit of the behind the scenes stock control.”

Cybercheckout

Home and garden merchant Cybercheckout uses Volo’s multi channel software for inventory and stock control and has reduced its staff to 2 full-time and 2 part-time, while increasing revenues 60% in 5 years. Andrew Redstone, Director, Cybercheckout: “It is the ideal stock system for a web based company…We were selling a lot of items in the beginning on our ecommerce website. With Volo we were able to quickly see which were the best sellers and this enabled us to consolidate our items into the ones that sell really well. This makes things simpler and more focused for us.”
